This SHOULD be a short post I think, just a random though off my head.

I recall the saying that one should always put in 100% for all tasks. While I do think it makes sense, perhaps it should be a guide because there will most definitely be times when we cannot muster up that 100%. Or maybe it's simply because we do not want to spend all our energy on something we have no interest in.
You can argue that "trying" is subpar compared to "doing", but my take on this? We need to decide how best to spend our limited time and energy, and trying should be encouraged IF it means not giving up on a pursuit that one truly believes in.
